A spacious rear cabin – the essence of a luxury sedan
The rear of the S-Class is designed so that whoever sits there feels like a guest rather than a passenger. Legroom is generous and the seat’s support recalls a first-class airline seat, so you step out rested even after a longer journey. Two executives travelling together sit comfortably side by side, and a third passenger can take the front seat.
Electrically adjustable, heated seats
The seat position adjusts at the touch of a button: sit more upright to work, or recline to rest. Heated seats are especially welcome in the winter months – on a January airport arrival or after a December ball, a warm seat is the first gesture with which the car welcomes its guest.
Ambient lighting in several colours and brightness levels
The cabin lighting can be adjusted in both colour and intensity. On a late-evening journey home, soft, warm light helps you unwind; on a festive occasion, a more decorative setting makes the moment memorable.

When welcoming a distinguished guest, good organisation comes down to the details. We have gathered the points below from the questions most often asked by executive assistants, event organisers and protocol officers. With Meet & Greet, the chauffeur waits for the guest with a name sign. Tell us which name – and, if needed, which company name or form of address – should appear on it. - Arrival details
For an airport pick-up, give us the flight number and the scheduled arrival time. - Seating order

In the S-Class to Budapest’s landmark venues
The programmes of official visits, embassy receptions and international conferences in Budapest often take in the same handful of venues on either bank of the Danube. Here is what to bear in mind when arriving at them in an S-Class.
The Hungarian Parliament Building and Kossuth Lajos tér
The Hungarian Parliament Building is the setting for state ceremonies and official events, and it is also where the Holy Crown of Hungary is kept. For parliamentary meetings or protocol visits, the organisers usually set the place and time for getting in and out in advance – let us know, and the chauffeur will time the arrival accordingly.
Buda Castle District
The Castle District is home to the Sándor Palace and the Carmelite Monastery, while Matthias Church, Fisherman’s Bastion and Buda Castle are among the most popular venues for events. The Castle is a protected zone: under current rules, cars may enter without a special permit, but no more than 15 minutes may pass between entering and leaving; staying longer incurs a parking charge. For a dinner in the Castle, the S-Class therefore usually drops the guest off and returns at the agreed time – it is worth agreeing the exact spot in advance.
Andrássy út and the Opera House
Andrássy út has been a World Heritage Site since 2002, and the Hungarian State Opera House at the start of the avenue reopened in March 2022 after a renovation lasting almost five years. An evening at the opera or a gala concert is a classic S-Class occasion: the chauffeur waits for the guest at the end of the performance, so no one has to queue for a taxi at the crowded exit.
The hotels along the Danube
Along the Pest embankment, from the end of the Széchenyi Chain Bridge to the Vigadó, stand some of the city’s best-known hotels, including the Art Nouveau Gresham Palace. Galas, balls, opera nights – when the car is part of the evening
No one in an evening gown or dinner jacket wants to hunt for a parking space, or wait for a taxi after the event. With an hourly, as-directed booking, the S-Class is at your disposal for the agreed time: it takes you to the reception, on to dinner, and finally home or back to your hotel.

Airport to city centre: the first twenty minutes
Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport is about 16–20 km from the city centre; depending on traffic, the journey takes 25–60 minutes. This is the stretch on which a guest sees the most of the city – and of the car. In the back seat of the S-Class, you can review your agenda or simply recover from the flight.
Győr and Lake Balaton: meetings, castle hotels, conferences
Győr (about 124 km) is one of the centres of Hungary’s automotive industry, while Balatonfüred (about 129 km) is a favourite venue for conferences and summer events. Over such distances, the journey in the quiet cabin of the S-Class is not lost time: you can prepare before the meeting and write up your notes afterwards.
Bratislava and Vienna: two capitals in one day
Bratislava is about 200 km and Vienna about 245 km from Budapest. Vienna is home to the United Nations Office at Vienna, the Vienna International Centre, and to the headquarters of OPEC – so many journeys to Vienna are for conferences or diplomatic engagements. The about 535 km journey to the Salzburg Festival or a business meeting in the Alps runs on motorways all the way. When to choose the S-Class, and when its siblings?
The EQS offers the same standing at the same fare and capacity, but with electric drive. If a company follows sustainability goals, or the guest values complete silence, the EQS is the better choice; if the aim is the classic protocol car, and heated seats matter in the winter months, choose the S-Class.
The E-Class makes sense when the car is primarily a working tool and the occasion is not a protocol one: on a day of meetings or a routine airport run, it is just as reliable, at a considerably lower hourly rate.

Model history
The S-Class – half a century at the top of the luxury sedan class
The “S” stands for the German Sonderklasse, or “special class”. Mercedes-Benz officially began using the S-Class name in 1972 with the W116, but the tradition of large Mercedes sedans goes back to the 1950s: the manufacturer regards the earlier “Ponton” and later “Heckflosse” (tailfin) sedans as forerunners of the line.
For decades the model family has been the manufacturer’s technological showcase. The W116 was one of the first series-production cars to be offered with an anti-lock braking system (ABS), from 1978; its successor, the W126, introduced the driver’s airbag in the early 1980s. Today the S-Class is in its seventh generation, unveiled in September 2020.
The car of leaders and public figures
Few car models are as closely associated with protocol travel as the S-Class. The model family includes the even longer, even more comfortable Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, as well as the armoured Guard versions developed specifically for transporting heads of state and people at risk.
