On a wedding day, a hundred little things can turn out differently from the plan – but the transport can be settled in advance. If the wedding car with chauffeur is there on time, the guests get from the ceremony to the dinner, and someone is still on hand after midnight to take the grandparents home, the day has one whole set of worries fewer.
You can book a car with us for a wedding or an anniversary. The newlyweds
The wedding car: S-Class, EQS or E-Class
The classic choice is the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Refined design, exclusive materials and a rear cabin so spacious that it feels like a first-class aircraft seat. Its electrically adjustable, heated seats and ambient lighting, adjustable in several colours and levels, create a festive mood even on a longer journey – in the nervous minutes before the ceremony and on the way to the reception alike.
A modern, quiet alternative is the all-electric Mercedes-Benz EQS. Its superb sound insulation, multi-zone climate control and massage seats are especially welcome when there is a longer drive between the ceremony and the dinner venue. For couples who care about sustainability, the EQS means travel with zero local emissions, even on the big day.
If the programme is simpler, or the parents and witnesses need a car alongside the wedding car, the elegant and more affordable Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a fitting choice too.
A voluminous dress?
If the wedding dress has a train or is very full, the roomier V-Class is worth considering. Please mention the style of the dress when you request a quote.
More people getting in?
Our sedans seat up to three passengers. If the bride is arriving with her father and the bridesmaids, two cars or a minivan is the right solution.
Little touches
Mineral water awaits passengers in every car, and in the V-Class we can also have cold drinks ready on request. You can let us know any further wishes in advance.
Family and guests
Transport for guests: V-Class, Sprinter VIP, e-Traveller
When the ceremony and the dinner are at two different venues – very common in and around Budapest – getting the guests there is a serious logistical task. Many don’t know the city, others would rather not drive in the evening, and the grandparents can hardly be expected to take public transport in their finery.
The most practical solution is the seven-seat Mercedes-Benz V-Class: a premium leather interior, attractive lighting and face-to-face seating – the journey itself becomes part of the celebration. Its electric counterpart, the Peugeot e-Traveller, also seats seven and is quiet and spacious in its long-wheelbase version. For the closest family members – up to six people – the Sprinter VIP offers a truly festive ride with premium leather seats, adjustable LED lighting and a built-in mini fridge.
For a larger wedding party, tell us the number of guests and we will suggest a combination of several cars or perhaps a tailored solution. Child seats can be requested for guests with young children – an infant seat (0–1 years), a toddler seat (1–3 years) or a booster seat (3–6 years).
Planning
The wedding day from a transport point of view – schedule and hourly rate
From a transport point of view, a wedding consists of many interlinked journeys. They are worth thinking through as soon as the venues are booked, because transport has to fit around almost every other part of the programme.
- Getting ready.
Many couples set off from different places: the bride from her parents’ home or the hotel where the hairdresser and make-up artist are working, the groom with his friends. That can mean two pick-up points and two times. - The ceremony.
The civil and church ceremonies often take place one after the other at two venues. Calculate the journey time between them with real traffic in mind: on a Saturday afternoon the city centre is slower than you might think. - The photo shoot.
The creative photo shoot usually falls between the ceremony and the dinner, at a third location. Agree its length with your photographer and add a little margin. - Dinner and reception.
Some of the guests go straight from the ceremony to the dinner – their journey needs to be arranged too. - The journey home.
In the small hours it is hardest to find a car quickly, yet this is exactly when it matters most that nobody gets behind the wheel.
Hourly rate or transfer?
If the car is at the couple’s disposal for most of the day and travels between several venues, an hourly booking is the obvious choice: for the time booked, the car follows your instructions. An example based on the hourly rate. If the wedding car is at the couple’s disposal for six hours, from getting ready until the start of dinner, in an S-Class this comes to 6 hours × €125 = €750. If a V-Class carries the guests for five hours between the ceremony, the photo shoot and the dinner venue, that is 5 hours × €110 = €550. We send the final amount in a tailored quote once we know the exact schedule, venues and times – for a venue outside Budapest, the outward journey is part of the planning too.
Saturdays in the wedding season – roughly May to September – are the most sought after. As soon as your date and venues are confirmed, it is worth getting in touch so that your chosen vehicles are sure to be available.

The example below shows a common arrangement: an afternoon church ceremony in the city centre, photos at Buda Castle and dinner at a château near Budapest. It is not a template but a starting point – it helps you think through your own day along similar lines before you request a quote.

The table clearly shows that the wedding car and the guests’ cars work to different rhythms: the couple’s car is on the move all afternoon, while the guests’ cars work in two shorter waves – after the ceremony and at night. That is why it pays to plan the two tasks separately: an hourly booking for the couple, and targeted transfers or shorter hourly blocks for the guests.
The journey home – the most often forgotten part of the day
At two in the morning it is hardest to find a car, yet this is exactly when it matters most that nobody gets behind the wheel. When you request a quote, tell us roughly when you expect the celebrations to end, how many guests will be heading home and in which directions, and who is staying at or near the venue. This shows how many cars, and which, are needed, and whether older guests can go home earlier and younger ones later. It is also worth booking the couple’s own ride to the hotel or home for their wedding night separately – it is the journey most people forget, and the one that means the most at the end of a long day.

Weddings in Budapest, at a château, by Lake Balaton and in wine country
Hungary is exceptionally rich in wedding venues: from Budapest’s churches and event halls to the châteaux around the capital, the hotels on Lake Balaton and the wineries of the wine regions. Each has its own transport logic – worth knowing before the schedule is drawn up.
Central Budapest
Weddings are held both in Matthias Church in Buda Castle and in St Stephen’s Basilica in Pest. Both venues are special from a transport point of view too: the Castle District is a traffic-restricted zone, and Szent István tér in front of the Basilica is pedestrianised, so the drop-off point should be agreed well in advance. Stopping outside city-centre restaurants and event halls is often brief and restricted – the more precise the schedule, the smoother the day.
Châteaux near Budapest
The Royal Palace of Gödöllő lies beside the M3 motorway, roughly 30 km from the city centre; weddings are held in the ceremonial hall, the riding hall, the baroque theatre, the main courtyard and the palace gardens. The Brunszvik Castle at Martonvásár is beside the M7 motorway, also about 30 km away; its English garden, lake and old plane trees are a popular backdrop, and the civil ceremony can also take place in the park. The site also cherishes the memory of Beethoven.
Lake Balaton
A lakeside wedding is a great summer favourite. On the northern shore, the promenade at Balatonfüred, the views from the Tihany Peninsula and the vine-covered hills of Badacsony offer venues, while on the southern shore there are Siófok and its surroundings. Eger and the wine regions
Eger Castle, the baroque town centre and the row of wine cellars in the Valley of the Beautiful Women make a special backdrop for a wine-country wedding; Egri Bikavér (Bull’s Blood of Eger), one of the symbols of Hungarian wine culture, comes from here too. Eger is about 129 km from Budapest on the M3 motorway. See also: Eger, Miskolc and Tokaj.
For a venue in the countryside – a manor house, a winery, a farmstead – it is worth sending us the exact address, the entrance and the parking options in advance. A dirt track or a hard-to-find gate is no problem by day, but it can be at night on the way home. If there is a map or directions for the guests, please send them to us too. Close to Budapest, the Danube Bend is also a popular wedding region: the baroque streets of Szentendre, the citadel at Visegrád and the views over the Danube make a special backdrop for photos, and the riverside hotels and manor houses for the dinner. The drive along Route 11 can be slow at weekends, especially in fine weather – time the guests’ arrival accordingly. Photo locations in Budapest – from Fisherman’s Bastion to the Danube embankment
Many Budapest wedding photos are taken at a handful of iconic locations. It helps to know how each can be reached, and when it is at its quietest.
- Fisherman’s Bastion and Matthias Church. One of Budapest’s best-known panoramas, with the Parliament and the Danube. It is full of visitors during the day, so early morning or late afternoon is calmer. The Castle District is traffic-restricted, and we agree the drop-off point in advance.
- The Chain Bridge and Clark Ádám tér. Cars are not allowed on the renovated Chain Bridge, so the couple get out at the end of the bridge and continue the shoot on foot. Where they get back in is best decided together with the photographer.
- Batthyány tér. From the Buda embankment, this offers perhaps the finest view of the Parliament, especially in the late-afternoon light.
- Vajdahunyad Castle and City Park. A romantic, castle-like ensemble on the shore of the park’s lake, with a green backdrop – easier to reach than the city-centre locations.
Two or three photo locations can comfortably be covered in an afternoon if the order follows a sensible route through the city. We are happy to help make the order logical, so the couple don’t spend their photo time in traffic.
Guests from abroad
Guests from afar: airport welcome and sightseeing
More and more weddings have guests arriving from abroad – relatives and friends who fly into Budapest. The greatest help for them is not having to work out on their own how to get to their accommodation. Our airport transfer includes Meet & Greet: the chauffeur waits for them with a name sign in the arrivals hall at Ferenc Liszt Airport, escorts them to the car and drives them to the address given. That way, you don’t have to keep driving to the airport in your wedding week.
If your guests have a free morning or a day after the wedding, a sightseeing tour of Budapest with a chauffeur is a wonderful outing – from Buda Castle along Andrássy út to Heroes’ Square, at their own pace. They can read more on our sightseeing with a private driver page.
For a wedding outside the capital, guests can travel from the airport directly to the venue or nearby accommodation – to Lake Balaton, a winery near Eger or a château hotel in Transdanubia – with no changes and no train connections. If several families arrive on different flights at the same time, send us all the arrival times and flight numbers: on that basis we will suggest vehicles and routes so that nobody has to wait hours for the others. The same logic works in reverse on the day after the wedding, when guests leave for the airport.
If it matters to the couple that the celebration has the smallest possible environmental footprint, they can also choose electric vehicles for their guests: the seven-seat Peugeot e-Traveller and the EQS sedan travel very quietly, with zero local emissions.
Organisational notes in brief
In Hungary, the intention to marry must be registered in person with the registrar, as a rule at least 30 days before the wedding. If the civil ceremony is to take place somewhere other than the register office – in the grounds of a château, for example – separate permission is required. The marriage requires two adult witnesses – if they are also arriving in the couple’s car, remember to count them when planning seats.
Anniversaries and special evenings
Anniversaries, engagements, celebration dinners
You can book a car with us not only for a wedding but for an anniversary too. On a milestone wedding anniversary – a silver or golden wedding – arriving at dinner and the journey home should feel festive as well, and the family should not have to think about who will drive home.
A surprise proposal, a night at the opera or a special dinner on the Danube equally deserves an evening that does not begin with hunting for a parking space. The quiet cabin of the electric EQS or the ambient lighting of the S-Class sets the tone for the evening on the way there.
If the celebration takes place in a wine region or at a country manor house, an hourly booking puts the car at your disposal for the whole evening, and the journey home is guaranteed.
